Recombination cloning technology is based on the site specific recombination reaction of phage lambda, and is the same principle as Gateway® technology, an efficient biochemical process that conserves genetic information (see Figure 1). The transmission of an ORF from EZShuttle Gateway® PLUS ORF Clones to a pEZ™ or Gateway® Destination Vector is a one step simple and rapid operation (60 minutes at room temperature), which saves a significant amount of time and effort from the tedious, multiple step, sub-cloning process involving enzyme digestions, ligations, gel electrophoresis and purification (see Figure 2). Furthermore, GeneCopoeia provides a family of pEZ™ vectors that contain different promoters and fusion-tags that meet the distinct requirements for production and purification of desired recombinant proteins in several expression hosts.
